LocalScan is a document scanning application designed with a local-first model. This policy explains what data is processed, where it stays, and what limited network use may occur.

1. Summary

• Scanned images, PDFs, OCR text, and annotations are stored on your device by default.
• We do not operate a document cloud and do not require an account to scan.
• Optional AI extraction, subscriptions, and analytics may use the network without uploading your document images for storage.

2. Data stored on your device

The App may store the following in the app’s private storage on your phone:

• Document images and derived previews
• OCR text and page metadata
• Annotations (text, signature images, shapes, etc.)
• App settings (for example AI toggle, page-number preferences)
• A random installation identifier used for subscription / quota checks (not your name or email)

You can delete this data with Settings → Clear all local data, or by deleting the App.

3. Camera and photo library

Camera and photo access are used only to capture or import documents you choose. Media is copied into the App’s private storage. We do not upload your photo library in bulk.

4. On-device OCR

Text recognition is performed on device when the native OCR module is available. OCR does not require sending page images to our servers.

5. Optional AI extraction

If you enable AI features, the App may send extracted text (not full-resolution page images by default) to a processing API to return structured fields. You can keep AI off in Settings. Quota and entitlement checks may include a non-identifying installation id.

6. Subscriptions (Apple / RevenueCat)

Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase receipts and device purchase tokens under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your full payment card details.

7. Analytics

If analytics is configured, we may collect aggregated product events (for example: app opened, export completed, paywall viewed). We design events to avoid document content, OCR body text, file URIs, and images. Session replay of document screens is not enabled by default.

8. Sharing exports

When you export or share a PDF, the system share sheet is under your control. Recipients and apps you choose may receive the file you share.

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not use the App if you are under that age.

10. Your choices

• Deny camera / photos permission in iOS Settings
• Keep AI disabled
• Clear all local data in the App
• Delete the App
• Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
